To the Shore boys
Please keep basic distance running going over the summer holidays and term 1, 2 runs 20-30 and 40-60 minutes is sufficient as well as skill / strength session weekly. Try to get to one weekly 300/600m session at Northbridge. Please contact me if you would like to compete in Interclub racing at Homebush track over the summer holidays, I would ask you to join my club Sydney Pacific which trains at Narrabeen track or Turramurra Oval, or UTS Norths which trains at Rotary Field, Chatswood. (see http://au.geocities.com/sydneypacific/ or www.nswathletics.org ). We also have a winter track series on Sun morning at Narrabeen track from 25/5-3/8, 10am-12pm. You need one track session per week over the rugby season and a time trial each month to monitor your endurance (3k) and speed (400m).  Monday 7-8am sessions will focus on drills, flexibility and specific skills.  Wed afternoon sessions at Northbridge will focus on harder track conditioning and throws/jumps strength.

Holiday training should be 1-2 longer runs 45 min+ and 6-10x300-600m interval sessions at moderate intensity with longer recovery (2mins+) to work on track specific speed or a hill rep session. You should continue one track interval session per week during term 2/3 (Northbridge A ground has a 440m white 'boundary' line for cricket).

Monte girls

Please note the 4 term training programme listed below. Morning training Tues, Wed and Thurs, 7-8am from the School gates starts on Tues Feb 9th, with our monthly time trial at St Leonards Park on Thurs 30th Feb.  Team Selection trials will be Tues 30th March, IGGSA Cross Country Championships at Frensham, Mittagong on Friday 14th May and CGSSA Cross Country on Friday May 28th. You can also qualify through the NSWCCC event on 13/6 to the NSW All Schools 25/7.  Holiday training should consist of 2-3 runs per week, 4-6km, with alternately one hill rep session or 4-6x600m intervals around a park. We will enter a team(s) in the Rotary Lindfield Fun Run, Balmoral Burn (420 uphill sprint, 1/6), Mini Mosmarathon (10k) and the City to Surf (14.2km, always second Sunday in August) in which we have a proud School team winning record. What about the Sydney Half Marathon (May) or the Blackmore Running Festival in Sept (4k, 9k, 1/2 and full marathon) to keep your parents company??
